Youth Soccer Grants Program descriptions and applications
The
2010 US
Youth Soccer grant applications are now available on
USYouthSoccer.org. For 2010, US Youth Soccer has added a recreation grants program
in addition to the TOPSoccer and Soccer Across America grants. The deadline for
all grants has been set for Jan. 8, 2010.
Last
year, as a part of the 12th annual grant cycle and in partnership
with adidas, US Youth Soccer awarded $85,000 in grants. Grants were first made
available in 1998 with more than $2 million given to date. US Youth
Soccer has issued 444 awards to groups of various sizes across the United
States. These grants continue to assist in developing soccer programs and furthering
The Game for ALL Kids!®.
Starting
in 2010, US Youth Soccer will allocate more resources by adding the US Youth
Soccer Recreation Grant Program. US Youth Soccer established this grants
program to help recreation programs of US
Youth Soccer State Associations and other organization members, in
existence at least three years that are in need of assistance to maintain and
grow their recreation programs.
US
Youth Soccer TOPSoccer
(The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team
placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth
soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity
of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical
disability.
Soccer
Across America is designed to introduce the sport of soccer to youngsters
living in communities not yet served by existing clubs and leagues. Soccer
Across America provides soccer training and administrative guidance to players
and organizations who might otherwise not be exposed to the sport. Soccer
Across America also helps new programs find the funding and equipment to begin
and then to expand their activities. In the past several years, US Youth Soccer
has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial and material support
to programs across the United States.
"We
believe these US Youth Soccer programs further our mission of fostering the
physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth
through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition," said
Jim Cosgrove, executive director of US Youth Soccer. "With the addition of
the recreation grants program, we continue looking forward to increasing the
opportunities provided to children across the country."
